Ceramics Industry
SUCCESSFUL ECTS MEETING IN MUNICH

The latest ECTS meeting took place in Munich on 9 April, taking advantage of the presence of all its members at the CERAMITEC fair in the Bavarian capital.

Two meetings were held on this occasion: a first meeting was held by the usual group of structural ceramics suppliers, which was also attended by two guest companies looking to become members and increase the group’s numbers. Afterwards, the first meeting of the new ECTS working group was held: the group of suppliers of fine ceramics (tiles, sanitary ware, technical ceramics, etc.). This first meeting was attended by 6 companies. The next meeting will take place in November hosted by one these companies, NETZSCH, in Selb (Germany), with the aim of consolidating and supporting this second ECTS group.

The growth of ECTS and the consequent influence it exerts is great news for the ceramics industry, which will now have a more powerful voice to defend the sector at an international level.

CONCLUSIONS FROM THE CERAMITEC 2018 FAIR

BERALMAR took part as planned at the CERAMITEC 2018 fair drawing some very satisfying conclusions.

In this edition, BERALMAR opted for a radical change in the design of its stand compared to previous editions. It featured an innovative design with a glass panel facade that maximized the space dedicated to attending to visitors.

As for the number of visitors at the BERALMAR stand, initial expectations, which were very high due to the number of previously confirmed visits, were far exceeded.

On the other hand, we have to highlight the low number of new contacts, lower than the previous edition. Rather than a disappointment, it is surely a logical consequence of having increased BERALMAR’s commercial presence in international markets over the last few years.

In any case, the CERAMITEC fair is always a guarantee of success.

We will definitely see you again in the next edition, which will take place from 16 to 19 November 2021!

CONCLUSIONS FROM THE BATIMATEC FAIR 2018

As every year, BERALMAR took part in the BATIMATEC 2018 fair that took place from 22-26 April in Algiers (Algeria).

Although the Algerian market has notably reduced investments in recent times, interest remains among ceramists for improving existing facilities.

Due to the high demand over the last two decades, production volumes have taken precedence up to now over production quality and the development of new formats. However, in the current climate, the cost of poor production quality has become a critical factor, as has the need to introduce new formats to differentiate from the competition.

The result of all this is that the BERALMAR stand received more visitors this year than in the previous edition, despite the fact that the forecasts were frankly low.

See you in Algiers for the next edition!

COMMISSIONING OF A NEW PLANT IN MALAYSIA

BERALMAR has just commissioned a new plant in Malaysia. It is a new production line for KILANG BATU BATA HAP KEE (Serandah, Malaysia) for which BERALMAR has supplied a dryer and a tunnel kiln for a production of 750 tonnes/day of solid bricks.

The new facility, which in the first phase has a production of 480 tonnes/day, is made up of a LLEVANT direct kiln car setting dryer and a PRESTHERMIC airtight tunnel kiln. Both the tunnel kiln and the two drying tunnels are 168 metres long with an internal width of 6.3 metres.

It is important to note that the only thermal energy consumed in the factory is petcoke, using a MICROMATIC system. The LLEVANT dryer, thanks to a comfortable drying cycle of more than 50 hours for all formats, is fed only hot air recovered from the kiln.

As usual in this type of factory, the commissioning has been very simple and all the material in the first kiln car out of the kiln has been of the highest quality: from the kiln car to the lorry.

Although the new HAP KEE plant will currently produce only solid formats, its senior management plans to introduce thermoblock formats to Malaysia soon. We wish them the best of luck in this project which is so important for the future of the Malaysian company.

Location of the new plant north of Kuala Lumpur.

Fired material from the first kiln car: straight to market.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ng family for their continued trust in BERALMAR.
