• HISTORY OF BERALMAR 6/10: 2000-03 – ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS AND NEW CORPORATE IMAGE

Two very important events stand out in this period of BERALMAR’s history.

The first is that the company received its first recognition from the Terrassa Chamber of Commerce in the form of the following awards:

2001: CÁMARA AWARD for Exports BERALMAR was recognised by the Terrassa Chamber of Commerce for exporting approximately 50% of its turnover. This occurred in a historical context in which universities, chambers of commerce and other Catalan production economy institutions stressed the need for the industrial complex to diversify internationally and reduce dependence on the domestic market.

2003: CÁMARA AWARD for Technological Innovation On this occasion the jury awarded BERALMAR for its work with biogas burners at the PIERA ECO-CERÁMICA brick factory. BERALMAR implemented a dual natural gas/biogas installation, taking advantage of the biogas obtained from the Can Mata landfill 1.5 km from the factory.

In 2002 the company also chose to give its corporate image a facelift. BERALMAR had just recently undergone a major transformation by creating the Project Department, which boosted the company to another level as supplier, without downplaying its high degree of specialisation achieved in combustion systems. The company changed its name from QUEMADORES BERALMAR, which had served it well for 38 years, to BERALMAR TECNOLOGIC, which better reflected its new reality. Along with its new name, the company naturally chose a new logo, with the slogan “Engineering and machinery for structural ceramics”. This corporate image is still in effect 12 years later.

Another highlight from this period is that the company expanded its facilities in Terrassa. It grew from 450 m2 to 890 m2 in office space and from 1,550 m2 to 4,200 m2 in workshop space.

By 2003 the company had 39 employees.

• 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION EVENTS

To celebrate Beralmar’s 50th anniversary, a special celebration took place on 19 July at the company’s head office in Terrassa, duly decorated for the occasion. About 300 guests — employees and their families, former employees and many external partners — showed up for the event.

The distinctively festive day started with a tour of the company’s various facilities, aimed mostly at family members. Our families, as noted and underscored by Ramon Sarió in his speech, are for obvious reasons a vital part of a very international organisation.

In his speech, which took place after dinner, Ramón highlighted some of the company’s challenges in its first 50 years of history. Then the live band started playing music from the 60s, proving that ceramic technology is not the only thing to change in 50 years, and the concert lasted well into the early hours of the morning!

It’s not every day you celebrate 50 years and, with the celebration behind us now, we would like to congratulate the party organisers for exceeding all our expectations. But it’s good to remember that history never stands still and a new chapter is written every day. If a company in a mature industry characterized by strong market discipline wants to survive, there is only one path — the one which has brought us where we are today: innovation, adapting to change and a job well done.

• BERALMAR AT THE 2014 TECNARGILLA FAIR

BERALMAR will again participate in this year’s TECNARGILLA fair, which will take place in Rimini (Italy) from September 22 to 26.

The TECNARGILLA fair is one of the most important fairs in the industry. Although it is aimed at all types of ceramic sectors, it features a specific section for structural ceramic technology suppliers, known as CLAYTECH, located in pavilions A5 and C5 of the Rimini Expo Center.

Visitors will find BERALMAR at booth 123 in pavilion C5, in a 100 m2 exhibition space.

• NEW EMPLOYEE IN THE SALES DEPARTMENT

Xavier Julió (55) joined the Sales Department in July.

Xavier lives in Barcelona and holds a degree in telecommunication engineering. He boasts a solid track record in ceramic industry sales, coming to us after 13 years at TALLERES FELIPE VARDÉS, where he sold machinery and lines for clay preparation and moulding.

Xavier has been hired specifically to handle the Middle East market, although he will also offer sales support in Algeria, a country he knows well.

We wish him a quick integration to the BERALMAR team!

Individual Mentoring Sessions

BERALMAR took active part in the FORUM AMEC for Industrial Internationalisation held at IESE Business School last July 1st. Specifically, our Managing Director Ramon Sarió took part in the Mentoring Express category, presenting BERALMAR as a mentor to companies in the early stages of internationalization, sharing the company’s own experience and giving support to companies in the process of commercial expansion.

We hope that this humble involvement in the FORUM AMEC may have proved valuable to participating companies.

• NEW ORDER FOR A MICROMATIC INSTALLATION IN SPAIN

BERALMAR has received a new order for a MICROMATIC installation from CERÁMICA ESPIRITU SANTO in Toledo (Spain).

BERALMAR has already installed this type of machinery for this client. This time around, it will be installed in line number 3 of its factory in Villaluenga de la Sagra, producing 550 tons of thermal clay blocks and other value-added formats per day. Thanks to the new installation, the plant will replace most of its natural gas consumption with micronised petcoke.
